I’m sad.
I’m sad because day after day I see how students with a good level of Spanish make basic mistakes.
Beginners’ mistakes.
Mistakes that should not exist in students who already have an acceptable level of Spanish.
How is it possible that an A2 or B1 level student does not know how to use structures like the VERB GUSTAR perfectly?
These are things that any beginner should be able to master. So a student with a certain level of Spanish should already have a good mastery of these structures.
Me gusta España (I like Spain)
I’m sure you know to say that in Spanish.
Me gusta estudiar español
Possibly that too
And many people think that, as they know how to say that, they already know how to use the verb gustar.
Maybe you think so too
But when they have to say something a bit more complicated using this verb…. Either they need a lot of time to think about it, or they say it wrong.
That can’t be possible.
The VERB GUSTAR and its variants is one of the essential verbs for communicating in Spanish, because it is used to express emotions and opinions and to express them with different degrees of intensity.
It is not the same to say that you like paella a little bit as to say that you love paella.
Mainly because in Spain, if you say that you love it, they will serve you a plate of paella bigger than the table.
And if you like it just a little bit, let’s see how you eat it.
That’s why I’m going to teach you the use of the VERB GUSTAR+ QUANTIFIERS (a little, so much, too much…) to say HOW MUCH you like something.
And…something really important
How do you reply when the other person tells you that “he doesn’t like to travel by plane”?
Are you going to answer “ok“? If you do that, the conversation will stop there. And the other person is going to think you are more boring than a tour of Nebraska.
Or …. you can say “A mí sí me gusta y a mi mujer también. A nosotros nos encanta viajar en avión y de hecho lo hacemos mucho porque nos gusta mucho visitar países distintos” (I like it and so does my wife. We love to travel by plane and in fact we do it a lot because we like to visit different countries).
What a difference in response, isn’t it?
So…This is what I am going to teach you in my new course to Master the use of the VERB GUSTAR.
You will never again have to think about how to express opinions and emotions with this verb, because you won’t have any doubts.
Well, neither with this verb nor with others.
Because maybe you didn’t know it, but there are many verbs that use the same structure as the verb gustar and, if you know them, you will be able to increase your capacity to express yourself in Spanish in a way you never imagined.
Don’t worry, because I’m going to teach you them.
You’ll be able to say things like “you’ve had a pain in your throat because you didn’t care about the cold weather”.
I will also teach you how to master the VERB GUSTAR and the other verbs in all verb tenses (present perfect, future, conditional…). So you can say that you didn’t like something (past tense) or that you think you won’t like something very much in the future.
This way you will say things like “Pienso que a mi no me van a gustar mucho los coches sin condutor porque a mí me encanta conducir” (I think I’m not going to like driverless cars too much because I love to drive).
And to learn how to make phrases at a high level and leave your Spanish-speaking colleagues open-mouthed, in the last module I will teach you phrases at such an advanced level that they will help you to say things that you would never think you could express in Spanish.
So that “me gusta España” will seem so simple that you will never say it in such a basic way again.
You will have lots of examples and practical exercises that will help you to know how to use everything I teach you.
NO MATTER WHAT YOUR LEVEL IS
If you have a basic level you will take a giant step forward in your level of Spanish.
And if you have a more advanced level you will discover things that you didn’t know how to say and that you probably hadn’t even thought of, so that you will improve your communication in Spanish in an incredible way.
